The gold stars of The Superior Taste Award were won by one of Brest-Litovsk cheeses, the classic cottage cheese Savushkin Farmstead and yoghurt Savushkin Creamy, BelTA reports.
The Belarusian company had to compete with world leaders and the largest transnational corporations such as Bacardi, Coca-Cola, Danone, Schweppes, Unilever, Heineken, Pepsico and others.
The contest organizers noted that "Savushkin produkt" was the first of all Belarusian dairy companies in the history of this prestigious international competition to receive the award. Earlier only Belarusian breweries won prizes at The Superior Taste Award.
The company is also the only one of the country's dairy enterprises which is a regular supplier of products to the EU market. According to experts, this fact, along with the victory in The Superior Taste Award, proves the high quality of products of this company. This is an international recognition of its efforts.
The international tasting competition The Superior Taste Award is an authoritative event aiming to assess the quality of food products. It is held annually by the International Taste and Quality Institute (ITQI) - the umbrella organization grouping chefs and sommeliers.
The purpose of the contest is to promote high quality and exquisite food.
Products submitted for the competition are evaluated by blind tasting, which means that tasters do not have any information about brands and the countries where they were produced.
The professional jury consists of 120 experts. They are renowned chefs and sommeliers from 14 European culinary associations.
OAO Savushkin Produkt is one of the largest dairy companies in Belarus which has been the leader of the country's dairy industry for over 10 years.
The company has a perpetual export license issued by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health, which allowed the company to successfully enter the European market.
The company began regular supplies of dairy products to the EU from July 1, 2013.
